Hello, I'm a first time gardener, ans was wondering if this jalapeño is ready to be picked? TIA

If you want the most flavor, wait for it to get red.

You can pick a jalapeño at basically any time it’s at the size you want. For maximum jalapeño wait for cracks to appear

Congratulations it looks great you’ve done a fine job ! 😀

it’s ready to pick now but you can leave it longer if you so desire ! 🌶️ Remeber to save the seeds for next year

  4. I picked my first one today, still green, about 2.5″ long bc I wanted it for some guacamole, and I feel like the jalapenos have been there for weeks so it’d be decent. It wasn’t even hot, what a disappointment. I should have stuck to the original plan and waited for them to turn red (and make homemade fermented hot sauce!).

Thanks for the info- first time growing jalapeños and was wondering the same thing- my husband is inpatient and wanted me to pick them and I told him no.
