I recently came across other posts showing that Nomad Travel Mug lids can get dirty. I decided to deep clean my mug. I wanted to create a quick guide in case others want to clean their mugs.

To disassemble the lid:
1. Place lid upside down on the counter. Using a chopstick, or narrow spoon handle, press down hard in the center. You will hear a click, and the lid will disassemble into two plastic parts and a metal spring.
2. Clean all parts with dish soap, warm water, and a brush. I also used a small brush to get into the narrow crevices.

To reassemble the lid (see photos):
1. Place lid right-side-up on the counter. Put the metal spring inside of the lid. Place the Nespresso engraved piece on the top, then press down hard with your fingers until you hear a click.

It was pretty quick to do this process. The mug didn’t leak afterwards so I think it’s all back in place correctly.

My Nomad Travel Mug lid was not as gross as the photos I saw in other posts. It just needed a good scrub. I have used it daily for a year. I hand wash my mug, which may have been a factor in why it is more clean. When I first saw those other nightmare fuel posts I was considered getting a different mug, like Yeti or Contigo, but I am actually really happy with my Nomad Travel Mug so I am glad I can continue using it in peace knowing it can be deep cleaned when needed.

Thank you for this. I recently got the iced nomad tumbler but really liked a yellow one I saw and wanted it but saw a few nightmare posts on here and was kind of swayed away from them.

Thanks for this, I did wonder how you could get the middle out. Brute force it apparently, thanks for confirming this, very much appreciated.

Thank you! Got mine as a free gift for buying a bunch of pods last year but been afraid to use it too much for this exact reason

Thank you! I barely use mine because I couldn’t take it apart to clean. I even called customer service for support. I thought it was me at first 😂.
