I went to Cariño in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago for my birthday last month and it was spectacular. This place is going for a star and I think they will get it. Their focus is presenting Latin American flavors in a fine dining setting.
We did the chefs counter tasting menu and it was superb. The presentation was amazing, really high level techniques, and most importantly, everything was delicious.
Highlights include the chicharron with elote dip, the huitlacoche ravioli, and truffle quesadilla. Dessert was a lot of fun as well, with the foie gras churro and duck fat Mexican chocolate being my favorite.
They do a late night taco omakase that I am definitely going back for. If anyone is looking for a newer restaurant in Chicago to check out, don’t miss Cariño.

Someone else just posted their taco omakase review in the chicagofood subreddit. Their experience mirrored mine that it was fantastic, looking forward to trying the tasting menu you experienced!
I loved my dinner at Cariño.
This looks amazing, but I got to admit when I scrolled to the picture of the (pork rind? Chicken?) sticking out of the wooden cup, I lost it lol
