If the package is still sealed and the pasta has remained dry, you should be just fine.

It’s safe to eat. The pasta might have become overly dry and crack and might fall apart when you cook it but will be perfectly safe to eat. Best before is not the same as expiration. Expiration is when it becomes unsafe after that date. Best before means that while it’s still completely safe to eat it after that date the flavor and texture may not be as good, like it might be stale or some flavor has diminished but you won’t get sick.

Water activity is low enough. It’ll just pick up weird flavors and degrade over time.

Yes. Hence the best before, not “used by”

Yeah, but the question is if it will still taste good 🤷. Only one way to find out

Yes can’t be worst then all the chemicals in the USA , 200 chemicals in our food that are band from 88% of the world.

Yes but it might taste like cardboard a bit. I cooked “expired” noodles like this and it had that aftertaste that stuck around

  8. for sure. didn’t know pasta had an expiration date

The real question is why the box says both maccheroni and bucatini.

Those dates are my worst nightmare. People think any food past the magic date is going to make them sick. A little education would be really helpful and save them money on food because they’d stop throwing perfectly good food away.

Unless bugs are visibly crawling around, they are fine to eat.

  12. Smell it. If it has a foul smell, toss it.
It would be a shame to toss btw, it is a really good pasta.

my dumbass uk brain was like what month is the 23rd 😭😭🤮🤮

  14. I saw a post today where a guy ate a 17 year old can of corn so I’m gonna say you’ll be fine.

Safe yes. Depending on where stored it could taste funky. I ate a 3 year expired bag of angel hair once and it was fine as it was in a sealed plastic bag. I ate a box of penne though that was just past date and it was just in box no plastic and it was rank

Just watch if there’s little bugs or flies, that’s how this kinda pasta spoils with time. Otherwise it’s safe to eat.

In Italy expiration dates on the package of edible products are mandatory but some of them are made to not expired for a very long time, like pasta (it is dried for a purpose). So if you know you can ignore the nonsense one.

Nah it’s made of Arsenic and Lead. Let me know if you live after eating it.

Eat it that box probs cost an arm and a leg

  19. As long as the package is intact and the pasta is dry it’s completely safe
