  1. Get some new shoes 😅😅 been wearing the same ones with no socks forever. I get they might be your garden shoes but that can't be healthy on your feet 😅😅 especially with no socks they must smell 😢😂

  2. Never tried fall planting of broccoli before, but I’ll try it this year, since I just ordered the fall seed collection.

  3. Hi Calikim. I'm a subscriber in the UK and never seen a fountain like the you show near the end of the video. Please could you tell me more about it.

  4. Oh my goodness, the video clips with sweet Mac! 🥹 He enjoys the garden as much as the rest of us!

  5. Hi Kim! I'm excited about the new seeds. I'll start my kale indoors so I can have some. The bugs love them this time of the year. In winter, I can enjoy my garden veggies in peace here in NC. I enjoyed this video. Thank you and take care!!

  7. I’m
I’m FL and not doing a summer garden anymore due to the heat so I’m chomping at the bit to get my fall garden going. Come on October!! 😂

  8. Kim, I don’t see the red trumpet cabbage in any of your collections. (I just saw it’s in the subscription box)I never saw that one before. It looks beautiful and tasty. I slowed down the video to see what Mac was chasing and saw it was a lizard 😊 I always fight with having to start the seeds indoors, because they will need to be hardened off, but I’m starting now anyway. (zone 6)

  9. Great video & content as always. I have a hard time starting parsley seeds, will be trying again. Cameraguy, you should start a YouTube channel teaching folks about videography. Your videos are first rate. I would be your first subscriber😅.

  10. Hi Kim.

About half of my potato chits have sprouted. It is probably all that I am going to get. I’m way past potato season in my area, so anything I get this fall is a bonus. The drought in my area ended July 6th, and it has rained most days—yeah, no watering needed. Mid-month, I direct sowed seeds for Danvers carrots, and Brunswick cabbage. I have cabbage seedlings aplenty and will need to thin them down in a week or two. The carrot seeds… not a single sprout. Wet soil, and cloudy skies weren’t enough for them. I’ll have to resow when it cools down further, September, maybe October.

The first average frost date in my area is Halloween. However, I’ve seen snow on the ground as early as October 13th. The first hard freeze comes about mid-November, and multi-days of freezing temperatures after December 15th. One of these days I’ll have to write it all down in a journal, in case I forget. I do use a spreadsheet to track the crops I grow and the planting times. I just started looking at a free online calendar that graphs out planting time and succession planting based on zip code, climate zone, frost dates, etc. It allows for a lot of customization in the advanced settings. https://app.seedtime.us/users/sign_in

I gathered my gardening tools and golden beet seeds, and went outside to sow them. The moment I stepped on the porch, it started raining. The moment I put my tools and seeds away, the rain stopped, but there is more to come. It is God telling me, not today. I have seeds on order, and am waiting for delivery. Among them are turnip seeds. I couldn’t source any locally, and my mother used the last of the seeds in her garden. As soon as they arrive, I will be sowing them too.

Mid-August will be sowing time for Waltham Broccoli and Snow Ball Cabbage. I will also be clearing out two raised beds, digging them out, and moving them to an area of the property that gets more sunlight in the fall and winter, and shade in the spring and summer. That way, I’ll be able to better utilize them for growing root crops. And… it will make winter gardening easier. Snow or no snow, I keep the garden producing year-round.

It will be September before I can plant greens, Boc Choy, Yellow Heart Winter Choy, Tatsoi, Komatsuna, radishes, and lettuce/ My area is less than ideal for growing parsnips, but I want to give it a try. October is the soonest I can plant them, and it is garlic time. After that, I let the garden coast through the winter, and start again with seed starts in January.

Chickens are a fun addition to the garden, and they are manuer machines, which will boost the nutrients in my compost for the next season—starting in February.

Oh, I did get too many cucumbers, and gave many away. They are still producing. I'm harvesting a minimum of fifteen every week. I gave away forty pounds of tomatoes and still have too many, well over a hundred pounds. Thankfully the chickens love them. They love the cantalope and watermelon scraps too, and the pickleworm damaged zucchini and cucumbers. Fortunately pickleworm damage was very few this year, but armyworms made up for them. Revenge is watching chickens fight over a hornworm. I was hoping for more to feed to them, but so far, I've only found one this season. Armyworms are a nice snack for the chickens, but it is first come, gets the worm. It is more satisfying watching them tear apart a hornworm into bite size chunks. They chicks are seven weeks old tomorrow. They are getting bigger, eating more, and producing more fertilizer for my compost bins.

  11. I'm ready for my late September planting here in Phx AZ. I have the seeds, mulch and plenty of plant food. I am sure hoping for success.

  12. I’m so Depressed I have lost 2 of my OG gardenia plants and my green beans burnt. from this hot weather…I actually cried. You always seem to inspire me please encourage me to see the hope🙏🏽 I cried, so tired of losing my beautiful plants my friends. Hey Camera guy I’m claustrophobic too! and just hate bugs!! Lol

  13. Got my Fall Garden Seed Collection – I think these should really do well up here. We are going from the 40s to the 70s, so this should be right up my alley!!

  14. Loveeee these get ready videos. So helpful. The pea variety i have says its to be planted in my zone from Sept-Feb. When it cools down a little more here could i possibly get away with growing before September maybe? Does the months on the packet really determine the growing months or more of a suggestion 🤔
