I use my Weck jars for lacto fermentation reusing the rings, but I have noticed black circles start to appear on the rings. They don't come off when I try to wash and scrub them. They're not fuzzy. Is this an issue and should they be replaced? Is it purely cosmetic? Or is there something that I can use to remove them without damaging the natural rubber?

Maybe soak in mild bleach solution. Then rinse well.
This is probably black mould that has grown into the rubber. I suggest to buy new ones.
