They taste good, but I’ve had spicier milk.

Yeah they straight up just taste like bbq flavored chips to me, I was so bummed when I tried these the first time. Still good tasting just disappointed in the lack of any spice.

They have just a bit of heat. Not hot by any stretch. I think they’re good. When I eat a bunch of chips I don’t want them to be all that spicy.

I think companies make spice levels weak to avoid clueless people burning their tongue off and complaining.

The only ghost pepper chips I’ve actually enjoyed are Paqui. Everything else seems like they just wanted spicy bragging rights without having to commit to something that would be too hot for your average four year old.

  5. Anything you can buy in a store or order from a restaurant is not spicy.  Even if it’s an Indian place and I ask them to kill me.

No they’re chips and they’re pretty tasty.
I miss living near a TJ’s. If it’s not spicy enough sprinkle some of their smoked ghost pepper grinder on there, that’ll do it.

HEB Carolina Reaper chips ain’t no joke. Better than Cheetos.

If you’re in the service area

I usually buy a bag. I like the taste but they are not very hot.

  9. I have yet to find any potato chips with anything resembling heat.

As for tortilla chips, with the passing of Paqui, there aren’t many at all worth a damn. However, if you get the chance, I’d recommend Julio’s. I forget the name of the hot variety (fiery something?) but they’re actually really good. Heat level maybe on par or slightly below Paqui’s Haunted Ghost, and flavor to me is solid.

My only 2 complaints are that A) The chips are usually super crushed by the time I get them, and B) they might actually use *too* much seasoning. They really pack it in there.

But if you’re looking for a tortilla chip with a little kick, try Julio’s, out of Texas (I think).

They are still so good though. Ghost will always be one of my top 3 chiles just on the flavor alone

  11. these are some of my favorite chips ever but definitely not that hot.

Somehow gives all the gut rot of spice minus any of the flavor. Trash.

  13. GoBackToLeddit

Yes, nearly everything mainstream is. If you want true heat, you have to order it online or be lucky enough to live remotely close to a store that sells it.

In my experience, if you ever buy anything from TJ’s that isn’t just straight peppers, you need to dial back the spice by 90% from what’s advertised and you’ll have a more reasonable expectation of what spice level you’re getting. [They weren’t lying: there’s a ghost of a pepper in that bag.]

  15. Well, the bag (at least part shown) does not say “spicy.” One would think they should be spicy if it says “ghost pepper.” As some others said here, this seems like a marketing gimmick. Homeopathic ghost pepper 🙂

Ghost peppers are expensive. It’s a marketing ploy. It’s like yogurt saying “made with real blueberries”, but it’s really just blended blueberries mixed with sugar gel and reshaped into blueberries.

I’ve eaten these. The label DOES list ghost ghost peppers but they also add cinnamon, powered horse cum, and sugar to even out the spice and give it a little sweetness.

They taste like over salted chips. Plain, double salted chips.

Tried these once, incredily medicore. I very much miss the “porkless pork rindes” that trader joes had. Those were my favorite spicy snack.

  20. Glittering_Raise_710

It’s the ghost of a pepper in there

  21. Glittering_Season_47

Same in Australia, all chips are weak no spice. Im over it.
