Following up my previous post about TFL with another icon in Napa Valley. We’re staying at the hotel for a few nights and this was our first full day of chilling by the pool and decided to cap it off at the restaurant. Opted to eat inside since it was 90+ outside today. It felt very casual but in a friendly way. The service was very very good. Our captain was fantastic and talkative and I think we were more open to it given the more relaxed nature of the restaurant. Views are absolutely bonkers and it just felt really “cool” sitting at this historic restaurant looking over the entire Napa valley. Loved the classic champagne cart, we both opted for France over California and paired very well with the scallop dish. My wife really wanted the burrata on top of the pork belly so they were happy to oblige. Scallop dish was easily the best scallop I’ve ever had. The burrata cherry and endive was actually incredible, really worked as a cohesive dish, the cherries and bitterness from the endive was fun against the creaminess of the cheese. Prawn risotto was very good, really strong saffron flavor which was delish with the ZD Pinot. My wife had the seared tuna which was the consistency of warm butter and melted on the palate. The best and most hilarious part of the meal was the mains. Legit half pound of immaculately cooked duck. AND a confit duck leg. I had the steak, again probably a third of a pound of beef AND a wine braised brisket. Literally preposterous, it was so much food and we were laughing the entire time. Definitely did not go home hungry. The captain did say they portion everything according to the 3 or 4 course menus so many the burrata put us over, but regardless, we enjoyed the entire experience immensely. I felt like I really “got” the difference between a 1* and a 3* this week. Super super fun mean with insane views at Legitimately the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Would I eat here again if i was passing through Napa? Maybe. Would I stay at the hotel again and probably get dinner here? Absolutely.

Their weekend brunch tasting menu is excellent as well. I usually hate brunch food too.
