I was gifted this Ball book published in 1960. It has recipes for canned squash, pumpkin, peanut butter and wild persimmon pulp. Of course I’m not going to use it but it’s interesting history.

I have my mothers from mid 60s and my grandmother’s from the 30s. It’s sad how much spicing got left out of recipes like apple butter over the decades. You can see it happening with baked goods too even within 1950 v 1956 in Betty Crocker.
