Made steak for my kids. It was a bit more rare than they are used to, but gotta start them young. They ate it all.

Would you call this medium?

Between medium and med rare, closer to medium than med rare.

Medium rare. Warm and red in the center.

  3. Probably, but the only way to say for sure is with a thermometer.

Looks like the upper end of med-rare or the bottom end of medium.

What did the thermometer call it? I would say mostly medium with a small band of medium rare

Not medium, it’s medium rare. Looks below 135. Just FYI, AAP recommends higher temps based on the age of children.

    No this is Patrick.

    An awesome looking steak though

It was probably medium rare but as it rested it cooked more. It’s on the edge of medium. I cook at a steakhouse and it’s darker in the dining room, which makes steaks look more red. Lighting has a lot to do with what the steak looks like, best way to know is a thermometer!

This is the ideal medium rare but no establishment can repeatedly replicate this. Good on you.

I’d call this medium, looks to have some cook all the way through. I like a steak this way

you can serve this as medium or medium rare probably

I want that fat. Woulda cut it off and rendered it a wee bit more while the steak was resting

    Textbook medium rare.

Like this is the picture they use on the temp chart, mostly pink with a warm red center.

It’s beautiful is what it is. Enjoy that mf

I’d say it’s medium as it’s fully cooked through but still pink.

Don’t care, don’t know, best steak I’ve seen in a good while

How would I know unless you cut it? This seems to be a problem here, pictures of the outside of a steak, people wanting to know how well they did, or what the center looks like.

Medium rare. But not too rare like sone think MR is. That’s perfect for me. Just had a half pound chuck eye cooked to this doneness. Perfect.

That’s a beautiful medium rare. The pink has more than one gradation, that’s how you can tell. If you had one shade of more cooked pink in there, it would be medium.

Jesus Christ, that’s a great looking steak.

  21. This is 100% medium

For those saying medium rare, I’m also now questioning all of your “I love medium rare bc it’s how real men eat meat” mantras.

As a cook on the char grill, you nailed it. I would send that out as medium every time.

  23. maxfreedom6996

Medium rare, leaning towards medium. I’d eat the everloving fuck out of that.

I’m still trying to get good at looking and calling it med or med rare because everyone’s idea of what those 2 look like is so different but all I can say is this is the most perfect I’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t cook it for a second longer or shorter. My best guess is med rare tho
