In my opinion it shouldn't over power the steak, but it should hold its own

I feel a baked potato, while classic, doesn't hold its own

A garlic mashed potato for my money hits the spot

There are many right answers to this, garlic mashed potato is top notch. For me, it’s 4 or 5 charred knob onions. Great steak with a great veggie and you don’t feel overfull when you’re finished.

Can’t go wrong with roasted potatoes and a green

My ideal plate, if I’m making it, includes garlic mashed potatoes, some sautéed onions and mushrooms, and roasted asparagus.

Garlic mash and roasted asparagus is my go-to choice.

I will say, if you’re lacking time, a steak and salad by themselves is a great combo.

For my family it’s my mashed potatoes. Corn on the cob would be the preferred veggie side, second might be green beans.

  6. Buttery Sweet Potato Mash, Asparagus and Tenderstem Broccoli is my go to 👌🏻

Another steak. Beyond that, nothing. I’m saving room for steak. I’ll have steak as the wine. I’ll have steak as the dessert. I embrace variety and diversity. Steak on a bed of steak as my salad choice. I’m for it.

Personally, give me sautéed onions and/or mushrooms, a twice-baked potato or some crispy fingerling potatos. Asparagus can also be a nice option if prepared properly.

Grits cooked with chicken stock, cream, green chilis and a sprinkle of cheese if you like

    Cheesy mashed potatoes and asparagus/broccoli

Something green – beans, asparagus, broccoli, peas, salad. I like something with a hint of acid to cut down on the fat of the steak. That and some mashed potatoes seasoned with horseradish.

A bed of sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions and shallots drowned in a red wine reduction.

Wine, mushrooms, asparagus, onion, a fist full of chunky chips, and I do like some blue cheese sauce in a wee bowl if I wanted to dip chips and some steak.

I don’t get garlic butter lads!

    Pick one:

    – Roasted/grilled asparagus

    – Roasted yellow squash and zucchini

    – Roasted brussel sprouts drizzled with balsamic vinegar

    – Caramelized onions

    – Enoki mushrooms sauteed in butter

    – Caesar salad with shaved Parmesan and croutons

Idahoan buttery homestyle instant mashed potatoes 🥔 really good side with steak 🥩 and easy to make too

Fries. The French figured it out with steak frittes. Something crispy you can grab with your finger is the perfect foil to the buttery unctuousness of beef.

Fondant potatoes actually arent that hard to make they are far superior to a simple baked potato in terms of flavor/texture and dont make me feel like a pig shoveling mashed potatoes into my mouth.

Also if you undercook them a bit you can remove some of the oil from the pan into a tinfoil boat and put into the air fryer on low. Save some of the oil in the pan especially if you infuse with fresh herbs such as thyme sprigs, to cook your steak.

Using beef fat (tallow) as the oil makes them so much better and its not incredibly expensive especially if you are also cooking a leaner cut of steak such as filet mignon or even sirloin/top round if you’re on a budget it has the ability to make those cheap cuts pretty decent.
