If one of your goals for following the Mediterranean diet is lowering your blood pressure, you might find this meal plan from Eating Well magazine helpful. It was created by a dietitian and is high in fiber (close to 40 grams a day) and potassium, and low in sodium. It also looks very tasty, which is always a bonus 🙂

More than 40 is better for everything. It’s great because fiber reduces cholesterol levels, reduces inflammation, and so much more.

Be careful if you aren’t used to eating this much fiber! Make sure you’re drinking lots of water and consider working your way up to 40g. Most women need 21-25g/day and most men need 30-38g/day. More than that won’t hurt – usually – but may cause GI issues if you go from the average intake of less than 20g/day to 40g/day out of nowhere.
