  1. The tendril has been dried up for about 3 days but the bottom spot is still white so I WANTED to leave it for longer…but won’t it split if I leave it get 6 inches of rain??

Pop that shit. Better a little under sugared than not at all. Underripe melon is still refreshing

Pull it. Enjoy it while you wait out the storm.

Yes, pick it. The amount of water from Debbie will likely cause it to split since it’s already ripe. I just grabbed two before storms too! 🙂

Never grew watermelon but my take is that since, to me, that looks like it could be totally edible, and IF it’s rue that you risk losing it completely, it’s a no brainer to just harvest it and hope it’s good enough to half-enjoy. The potential alternative is that you will lose if and never know and therefore have nothing to half-enjoy. Use this as a watermelon harvesting learning experience, I guess.

Ideally you want the field spot to be yellow rather than white. But you’ll crack your melon with excess rain. Either choice is acceptable.

Get it once the storm hits. That way you get maximum sweetness

My tendrils browned off early because of imbalance of nutrients/over watering from rain so it’s always a crap shoot picking them. I’m being patient. I’ve ate too many unripe watermelon in years past. Patience is a virtue

That watermelon is about to give birth to 3 cantaloupes 2 pumpkins and 1 stoned person that doesn’t understand plants.
