I used this recipe with a few changes. Instead of 1.5 tsp yeast, I just used a whole packet of instant rise for the donuts. Instead of 1 tsp of vanilla I used 1 tbsp vanilla paste for the crème patisserie. My husband and I elected to have donuts at our wedding instead of cake (our first date was at a diner and we served breakfast food at the reception). One of the flavors was Crème Brûlée and it was by far the most popular.

Instead of corn syrup, I’m going to try reduced-to-the-same-consistancy apple cider (or other fruit juice) with apple jack or brown sugar bourbon. It’s an opportunity to add flavor and avoid the negatives of corn syrup.
