So not only is Portillo’s illegally preventing their own workers from unionizing, but now they want to take down the entire National Labor Review Board thats been in place since the Wagner Act first guaranteed the right to union organization, collective bargaining, and labor strikes in 1935.

I don’t know about you all, but I’m done with this fucking place.

EDIT: it would be a real shame if some inflatable rats started showing up outside of every franchise location…

I thought this was decided during the FDR administration. I suppose they are thinking the current Supreme Court will revisit the issue almost 90 years later.

No more Portillo’s for me. I was only going there because it’s close/easy. This will force me to be less lazy, but also frequent better options, of which there are many in Chicago and the burbs.

  4. Glum_Celebration_100

And that’s the last time I go to Portillo’s

  5. Duke_Shambles

Oh shit I didn’t know Portillo’s was that anti-labor. Mom and pop shop’s are better but I used to eat there in Bloomington during my frequent travels between Chicago and St Louis.

    Not anymore I guess!

  6. So this is what will become of Portillo’s after being sold to private equity. Thanks Dick! You’ve lived up to your name.

  7. Alive_Panda_765

Portillo’s has always been overrated. Now I just have another reason not to go there.

  8. Sadly that’s the last bacon cheeseburger I’ll ever eat

  9. BudUnderwearBundy

And just like that,…..I never ate Portillo’s again. Plus they went downhill recently, charging for peppers on a beef. Bogus.

What are some of the best beef alternatives on the NW side (near Logan)? I know plenty others exist, but I don’t have time to try them all. I quite like portillos but would switch it up if there’s a better alternative.

  11. WayneKrane

Super done with them now. I was hankering an Italian beef sandwich too. Oh well, PLENTY of fine alternatives.

  12. MrOtsKrad

Let me list of the legions of establishments throughout the Chicagoland area that absolutely BURY anything Portillos produces.

    The McDonalds of Chicago Foods.

    Good Riddance.

  13. wretch5150

Okay, and in response, I am done eating at Portillo’s.

  14. salsation

This is why you shouldn’t eat at Portillo’s, as if you needed another reason.

  15. MarkB1997

Does any one have any good alternative in Rogers Park? This is the last straw on top of their sky high prices for me.

  16. Supafly144

So not only is their food pretty mediocre, they push against worker’s rights. Good to know 👍🏼

  17. Roboticpoultry

Well they can join the list of companies that can fuck right off. I’ll just go to Jim’s instead

  18. derek-der-rick

I support unions and a proper wage more than my desire for Italian beefs or hamburgers… Portillos has been the ONLY place I have gone to for those during the past 20 years [yeah, I haven’t touched McD’s or BK or any other hamburger joint in 30 years!]. But, now I’ve got to look around. Chances are that other fast food joints are really anti-union as well? Keep us informed! Until the Union comes out on top, Portillo’s: I. am. done!

  19. Hopping_Tiger

The amount of beef on their Italian beefs lately is also unconstitutional.

  20. Ineedamedic68

Everyone should go on their social media and show them what they think of Union-busting corporations

  21. Fuck Portillo’s. Food is shit so I don’t go anymore, but this is next level disgusting for a company that markets itself as a Chicago tradition.

Chicago has always fought for worker’s rights and safety, and will continue to do so!!!!

  22. wauponseebeach

Plenty of other places to eat with way better food.

  23. raramin333

Hate to see it. I’ve been there enough times in my life though. This is a good place to stop.

  24. splintersmaster

Portillos has gone way down in quality ever since they began super expanding. I’ll take home Depot dogs over portillos all day long.

Their workers stand out in the elements to give assholes beef sandwiches. Let them fucking unionize.

I’m done eating there. Fuck portillos. Embarrassment to the city.

  25. Looks like I’ll be selling my shares of PTLO…

  26. RabidAcorn

As someone who works at PFS 3 (Portillos Aurora food service plant) it’s really great to see people willing to boycott Portillos for this. We feel completely unheard by the company, especially after voting in favor at both facilities. It’s pretty obvious they don’t give a shit about us. Every day I come in to work feels like we’re in a sinking ship, sinking faster every day.

I admit to loving the pasta and ribs at barnellis, any alternative suggestions?
