Got a whole bunch of figs and apples from my parents' place – apple butter, fig jam, and fig preserves! Used Ball book fig recipes, but they are too sweet.

Other fig recipes are welcome! Their trees are going wild.

I don’t have dog recipes but just wanted to point out that there seems to be a lot of headspace on those jars.

Butters and jams are 1/4″.  Just something to keep an eye on.

Yeah, figs don’t need that much sugar in terms of flavor, but for recipes that use pectin, you need sugar for the set. However, fig jam doesn’t need pectin – you can cook it down until it’s jammy, and it’ll set up nicely. Next time you can try [this recipe instead.](https://nchfp.uga.edu/how/make-jam-jelly/jams/fig-jam-without-pectin/) It’s the same amount of sugar as the ball recipe for twice the amount of figs.
