Japanese peaches (momo) abroad. Saw these in Bangkok, Thailand. Almost all the varieties available were from Fukushima. Are Fukushima peaches popular in Japan?

Yamanishi, Fukushima and Okayama are all very famous for their peaches.

  2. You’d be hard pressed to find peaches, or any fruit or vegetable for that matter, from Fukushima in a supermarket in Japan, though. People are still really sensitive (read: “hopelessly paranoid”) about anything from that area, given what happened/continues to happen because of the 2011 earthquake. I suspect exporting is the only way Fukushima peach farmers can make a living.

Fukushima peaches are the best. They’re not as soft as other peaches and they are super juicy and delicious. We get them every year from my MIL!

Fukushima is the second largest grower of peaches in Japan, and home to some of the sweetest varietals. In fact, the peach is the official fruit of Fukushima prefecture.

  5. Peaches is one of the specialty of Fukushima. I remember having them and they were extremely good.

The US national team won consecutive games against Italy and Canada at Fukushima Prefectural Azuma Baseball Stadium.

After that, they traveled to Yokohama and won against Mexico on the 24th, making it three wins in a row.

In the post-match press conference, coach Eriksen looked back on his stay in Fukushima Prefecture and expressed his gratitude to the hotel and stadium staff, saying, “We were treated like kings and queens.”

He also said, “Everyone said Fukushima peaches were delicious, so I really wanted to try them. When I tried them, they were so good that I ate too many and got fat.” He seemed surprised by how tasty the Fukushima peaches were.

Player Kat Osterman, who was also at the press conference, said, “We ate the chicken, fish, pasta, salad, and everything was delicious,” and reflected on her time there, saying, “We had a great time.”
