We ordered a hummus plate at a very normal hotel bar in the Midwest. This was brought out without context?

Are they advertising that it’s thick as wallpaper paste?

that would make sense if you were at a 21C or something

  3. I just want to comment on the excellent emoji placement

  4. ApproachSlowly

That manages to be a little clever and rather stupid at the same time.

Not gonna lie, I love it. Looks like it would be super fun to eat, and easy to make horizontal if you’re worried about the mess.

  6. Sometimes chefs are ridiculous and over the top about how they plate food. Even Gordon Ramsay would find this ridiculous.

I both hate and enjoy this on a very high level.

  8. As someone who has a painting degree I’m going to posit this is very unlikely to be food safe unless they made that somehow? If it’s an off the shelf art supply canvas I would not eat the hummus.

When I first looked, I thought why is this parent making fun of their kid’s art and then I realized what sub I’m in. That is so strange.

Now, I have to stop reading in this sub for a day or so. There’s so much crap like this going around – my head’s all discombobulated! It’s just too much…….

You edited emojis better than they plate appetizers

  12. Why? Just why? It’s fucking hummus. Just because you’ve eaten at Alinea doesn’t mean you need to plate hummus like a cheap knock Alinea knock off, Chef.

Did all the other tables stare at this? And did anyone else order it after yours arrived?

  14. hatemilklovecheese

This wins this sub sorry everyone pack up and go home

Is. It. Frozen? On there? Good hummus would have slid down that plate in an instant.

Tbh that’s so weird and unexpected I wouldn’t even complain.

What is the stuff on the hummus? Like, the leaves and redstuff?

  17. NoFlyingMonkeys

Lord knows what chemicals that white canvas has it it, it’s certainly not food grade. Or in what unhygienic place it was manufactured. And in what filthy warehouse with vermin it was subsequently stored.

This the type of situation where I like to have the best kind of fun.

I’d tell them I’m going to report them to the city and state inspectors at those departments of health. Let the begging and comping from the manager begin!

  18. Successful_Ad_8686

The hummus is a bit thicker than usual, I hope they didn’t sacrifice the taste to achieve this result. Other than, it’s not bad visually and a bit creative

Wtf, so dumb… I’m not against a special presentation to a degree, but not this. Maybe like a thin slab of marble that would be washable

This is the most perfect post on this sub. Thank you

I genuinely don’t get it, do they think it’s cute? Classy? Artistic? It’s fucking none of those, it’s drab, played out, put the damn hummus in a bowl before I go postal.

  22. idiveindumpsters

For reasons not known to me, my first reaction was that I would not eat that.
    Idk why.

  23. Did it describe the plating in the name/ description?

  24. Tiny-Werewolf1962

Was this not explained on the menu?

or was it one of those places that just says
    >H U M M U S ⠀- ⠀9
