I used NYT Claire Saffitz macaron recipe and video for these. I came out with 12 instead of 23, had uneven circles, and some weren’t filled with enough ganache, but I’m proud of my first attempt!
Note: i took a macaron class 4 years ago, but i thought Claire’s video was 10x more helpful than that class.

Colorful macarons have never been appealing to me, but I would gobble these double chocolate ones right up!

Cocoa powder has high fat content and too much of it can cause wrinkled shells.

that’s exactly how mine looked on my first attempt at macarons (used the same recipe), i think it might use too much cocoa powder

I know that a lot of macaron making is chasing that papery smooth dome, but I actually love the wrinkles on these! Makes them look so much more like actual food rather than craft items.
