Picked another batch that was starting to turn colour today and couldn’t decide if I should completely remove the stems or leave them on. What is your preference and why?

I’ve wondered about this too!

It is annoying but I prefer to leave the stems on unless they’re catfaced to hell. The stems seem to keep them fresher longer but I have no science to back it up.

Keep stem on so it doesn’t expose to flesh
They last longer with stem attached in my experience
I leave the stems on because taking them off risks ripping or tearing at the flesh and exposing the inside of the tomato.
I keep them on and put them stem side down. I’ve read the best way is to tape the stem.

We have to take them off at work cause the stems can puncture other tomatoes, but if you arent pouring them into boxes they dont do anything
The reason to keep stems on is avoid bacteria from infecting the wound. Always keep stems on when you can.
