My first attempt at an ear was successful! I didn’t even know I cut it wrong till after but it still gave an ear!
I’ve been using this recipe faithfully https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTFRyyoJo/ but added 5 more grams of salt then did 6 sets stretch/folds and 2 sets of coil folds going around the bowl a few times. We’re in a heat wave in San Diego so my dough wasn’t holding as well as normal but it came together through the extra sets.
How’d I do? Any alternatives for cornmeal in the Dutch oven? The burning of it sent me into an asthma attack and I don’t have asthma.

Amazing ear, Very nice oven spring, try to bake it longer, looks a bit uncooked.
Forgot to mention I ended up baking lid on for 30 minutes and lid off but under the D/O for 10
As far as alternatives to cornmeal, I just use baking parchment and haven’t had any problems with sticking. Looks great btw! 🙂
Perfection!
