So on a recent trip I had the pleasure of dining at Forma in Santa Monica California (10/10 recommend!) and out waiter put together a small cheese tasting for our table. It was fascinating to see just how different some of my friend's palate's were from my own and how our "ranking" of the samples varied so widely!
Upon returning home (Texas, medium sized uncultured city lol) I figured I would never be able to find the same cheeses locally BUT was pleasantly surprised when the cheese/deli department manager at the grocery store recognized one of the names and shared a taste of one that was very very close to an item on the tasting. However, he wasn't sure about the other cheese I was seeking so I am hoping the good formage fiends in this sub could come to the rescue 🙂
The cheese I am hunting for was called "Epoisses- Berthaut" and is from pasteurized cow's milk from France. It was described as a "washed-rind cheese that is styled without being strong, with a slight taste of hazelnut."
Does anyone know of something like this I can find at either H-E-B, Sprouts, Spec's, Walmart, or Target??? Unfortunately these are the only cheese-selling stores I am aware of in my area 🙁
