Hi Rich. Garden Tour is GREAT….FALL is in the air. I’m a Fan of the Metal Raised Beds….Lisa (Yogi Hollow) was given a Vegaga Raised Bed to try….her beans grew very well!
It’s been Cold here Rich! Like 10c which is just 50F…we had to light the Wood Stove at The Ole Church!
Supper garden tour. Two of my neighbors have been helping with my garden and we’ve been sharing. The only things that did well in my garden this year were tomatoes and herbs. It was just too wet. I have canned 3 times as many tomatoes this year plus I’ve shared them with the other two. I canned tomato sauce today. My black cherry tomatoes tasted so much better this year than last. ??? Did you reduce the number of chickens this year?
The garden is finally producing a LOT of produce and we're working to get everything finished before frost. How is your garden holding up at the end of the season?!
Here in 5b we had terrible luck with our peppers this year. Other things we did were ok…no corn ears even tho they few plants came up. Good tomato harvest and the squash are doing well. Tried a new potato method this year, the towers. We will not do that again… very low yield. Zucchini and yellow squash is finished but did well and we have several pie pumpkins nearly ready to pick… carrots were small last time we checked them….cukes were a low yield but last year we got zero so that’s better..the forecast here for the week is hot for September 86 today and 84 tomorrow…all in all I’m happier than last year but the hubby is disappointed. He loves a huge garden! He’s already planning next year!
Good morning Rich. I picked 11 cucumbers last night.
Tomatoes are still giving.
Lettuce, and radishes are coming, but i have to water. Thank you for the tour.
My folks believed different vine fruits, and vegetables should be separated to avoid cross pollination. Evidently you don't have a problem ?
Looking for a bigger cherry tomato, Dad complained my variety was too small. What is your Black cherry? I tried rampicante squash this year, im told its similar to butternut, eager for them to ripen. Purple pole beans were very prolific. Learning and changing every year. Yesterday my Zinnias were loaded with Monarchs!! Leaves are dropping like crazy in east central MN.
It looks like some veggies rebounded nicely for you. We still have tomatoes, cukes, carrots, and eggplant growing. Next month we will get the garlic planted. We decided to cut the garden in half and do a couple patio pots for next year. We are traveling so much now that we are rarely home. Tell Holly 'HI' from us.
Zone 4b in WI, garden is doing great! Close to a second picking of peppers and tomatoes. My bush beans are close to a 2nd picking on their 2nd round (got about 2.5 pickings on the first round). Pole beans are ready for 2nd picking, cucumbers are still coming in strong. Zucchini are starting to taper off and vines are dieing for my pumpkin, but the white acorn squash and watermelon are still going strong. And the sunflowers, oh boy, are tall and beautiful with lots of bees! And my fall lettuce and spinach should be ready to start picking in the next week or so. Lots of harvesting and canning and freezing going on.
