I remember the first time I saw *penne alla vodka* on a restaurant menu and I thought it was a bit of a novelty to try to get students to eat there – this was a place whose signature dish was pizza with spaghetti Bolognese on it called *La Spaghettata* (both the dish and the restaurant).
