PSA in case anyone needs some new kitchen tools!
The bread making kit comes with a proofing basket with the cover, dough whisk, bench scraper, and bread lame with replacement blade for $14.99.
And the cast iron bread dome will be $24.99.
On that note – I currently bake my loaves in my Dutch oven. Is there a noticeable difference between using a regular Dutch oven vs a bread dome?

I bought the crofton oval Dutch oven last fall and the enamel cracked after the first use even though it was within the oven safe temp.
I do not believe that crofton cookware can handle the high heat of bread baking.
Currently I’m using the lodge double oven. I use the lid and the pot as a bread dome by baking with it upside down. It is not enameled and has more uses than the bread dome since I can also use the pot as a Dutch oven.
I love my Le Creuset Bread Oven. Mine is not enamel coated inside so it can totally stand up to the high heat better and doesn’t stain. It’s easier to put in & take out the bread because of the low walls, you don’t have to use parchment paper, it’s more than paid for itself considering how many loaves I’ve made in it.
I do plan to swing by tomorrow and if I see it, I’ll get it. I’ll report back if that’s the case & when I compare them.
I got the bread oven. Made bread today and had no issues. I bake at 470. Way better than an old 1950s Dutch oven with no lid and foil. Lol- price is right
I’m planning on getting the kit tomorrow morning. Don’t need the dutch oven or the bread dome since I have a Lodge combo cooker and a KitchenAid bread bowl/dome.
You’d pay $15 for the banneton alone, so the bread making kit is worth it.
I have the dome from a few years ago and it’s great! No issues. I use it right along side my Le Creuset and Staub ovens when I bake!
I don’t have any of the bread making kit items. Are they really necessary?
I’m planning on being at my Aldi early tomorrow.. I decided against it last year and I’ve regretted it.. I begin my SD JOURNEY in Feb of this year so I’m really wanting to try it.. I do t have as much expectation as I would a big named one but I still want to try it.
