Hi guys!

After countless hours of research, your input and recommendations, and a small fortune, I have finally arrived at a coffee standard that for me surpasses the average speciality coffee by allowing me to dial in my preferences.
The grinder is a Mazzer Philos with I200D burrs and the machine is a Profitec Pro 600 with vertical steam and hot water valves.
The dosing ring is great at reducing ground coffee spillage and I feel the Decent tamper adds more consistency as I have struggled to get a flat and even tamp consistently.
The NotNeutral Vero cups are a pleasure to drink from and are the icing on the cake for a premium drinking experience.
However, after WDTing the ground coffee and tapping the portafilter, I find that sometimes the grounds are not 100% evenly distributed. Would a distribution wedge be my solution for a more even extraction?

Let me know what you think of my setup 😊!

I really like how the v60 seems humble almost in all set up even though been a powerful method to get a great coffee

Love the design of that Vuelta poster, cheers fellow cyclist!

A dsitribution wedge really helped me with consistency and also made my workflow smoother and faster as I don’t have to faff about so much with the wdt to get that perfect level top. I can recommend the relatively inexpensive leveling tool Motta produces.

A spring loaded tamper with a ring that lays above your portafilter can help. I have a normcore one and the puck always levels out.

Nice setup. Interested to hear your thoughts on the Philos. Looking to upgrade my office setup (from Niche Zero) and the i200d burrs might do the trick (the Zero has been robust and great for textured italian ristrettos, but we want better clarity from lighter roasts).

Leveling tools/distributors only superficially groom the top of the puck and may actually [harm TDS extraction yield](https://socraticcoffee.com/2016/12/examining-the-impact-of-the-ocd-on-total-dissolved-solids-extraction/). For me, just working on my WDT game provided the best results. Blind shaking (alone or in conjunction with WDT) can provide good results as well, but will challenge your tolerance for faff-ery.

Personally, I have never encountered a grinder with a chute-based exit that didn’t require WDTing or deep re-distribution of some sort.

OCD alert: Fix your flair. It’s “machine | grinder”

    Lol
Seriously though, I’ve had my 600 since November and it’s awesome. I’m going to have the same grinder but with i189d as soon as I get the magic email .
I use the asso jack leveler. It really helps. Balanced feedback tamper from MHW3 bomber I really like.

Keep posting about your experiences while I wait for my grinder please !

How are you enjoying the Mazzer? I’m considering it as my next electric grinder for both pourover and espresso
