Şehriyeli Pilav, or Turkish Rice Pilaf With Orzo was served as a side dish at our turkish cooking class.
There is definitely an art to cooking rice. We learned that in Turkey, it’s important for a bride to know how to made good rice – if she can make good rice then she’s a “keeper.” This rice dish uses tons of butter for flavor and orzo for texture. Simply the best! Give it a try.

Rice with Orzo

3 tablespoons cooking oil
1/2 glass vermicelli
2 glasses rice
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon salt
3 glasses hot water or chicken broth

Sautee the orzo until it’s golden brown.
Add the washed and drained rice (medium or long grain)
