Old bay! More crab! Looked like it boiled alright though, nice job for the first go. How was it?

You def need more crab, more seasoning, and shrimp at the very least!
alaskanbullworm1812
Did u season it?
Chef_Handlebar92
Go nice and heavy on the seasoning. I like to do equal parts of beer and water and a splash of vinegar.

I wouldn’t buy pre peeled shrimp for a boil. But you need more protein and more seasoning in that boil for sure! Hope you enjoyed it! Can’t ever go wrong with a good crab boil
ICouldBeWrongGuys
Season it until you’ve seasoned it too much…then season it some more lol

Two people?
otherwisethighs
it looks bland and dry

Agree with the above, there isn’t enough protein here. Also especially if it’s a group, you can cut the corn into quarters and also cut the potatoes too

Maybe they’re a senior citizen. That would explain the lack of seasoning.

I did have more seasonings than in the original picture. Zatarains, McCormick, slap ya mama, creole, Frank’s hot sauce, and old bay. Felt like I added a bunch but I guess with a 60 quart pot you can’t have enough. I only had a few clusters of crab because I was just doing it for myself and didn’t want to spend as much money. I’ll post again of when I do it for the group. I appreciate the constructive criticism

You even putting seasoning on that boi?
Back_Equivalent
Need about…. 10x the amount of seasoning

Brother I see zero seasons on the final picture, if you ain’t sweatin eating it, it ain’t a real boil
Hoochie_Ma
Don’t put too much water you actually dilute and lose flavor that way

Snow crab is so wildly inconsistent. When it’s good it’s really good. But a lot of the times when you buy it you can tell it’s been thawed and refrozen and all freezer burnt dried out. Just keep an eye on that before serving other people. Would hate for you to get blamed for that.

How did the crab turn out double cooking it?
Tildengolfer
Add the seasoning in the boil AND when finished. A nice dusting afterwards is helpful.

Where’s the Old Bay?
Gemcollector91
Old bay seasoning. Apply liberally all over everything including corn and potatoes.

Since you are doing it for a group later, good job doing a dry run and getting feedback.
I don’t do a lot of seafood boil, but I gotta say you need more crabs, and you need to buy shrimp that’s skin and head on. The head of the shrimp contains fat, and that succulent orange fat has so much umami w/c adds a great flavor to the rest of your boil.
Next, add soda to your boiling water. I’ve seen people use Fanta orange and pineapple, but me personally, I use Sprite. It adds a sweetness w/c is a great balance for the saltiness of the sausage.
Lastly, don’t be afraid to use spices and seasoning. Crushed garlic, onions, some peppercorns, add some bay leaves, Old Bay seasoning, etc.
