I know they're on the small side. I started them late in the season, then we had an unseasonably cool August and September, and we're expecting our first frost tonight so I figured they had to come out. But these are all freebies from a grocery store sweet potato that had started to sprout in the pantry, and I grew them in some large flower pots my mother had that she didn't want any more. With a couple dollar store trellises, they made great looking porch plants, lol. The funny part is, I don't even like sweet potatoes, but I couldn't resist when I saw the long, scraggly root in the pantry. They'll be given to my parents after curing.

It’s always a win when you can yield something from (almost) nothing! I’m personally expecting to have bupkis from my sweet potatoes this year, but I have another week or two before frost arrives and I find out for sure. Rabbits went wild on my vines in early summer and the plants took a LONG time to recover.

Why do home grown sweet potatos always look like they’re posing?? Incredible job!!!

Is it worth the time and effort? I always feel like if I do it I’m gonna do it wrong.

Well done!! Mine came out about the same sizes. I ended up dehydrating them and making them into treats for my pups (which was my original intent in planting them).
