So much passion in this guy for his craft
In Genova we never heat the pesto in a pan, just add a spoon or so of the water from the pasta and mix it around until it gets loose. His pesto looked more like a cream. In Genova, pesto has more like the consistency of a paste. Most families don't make pasta very often, if you want artesan quality fresh pasta which is probably better than what grandma would make you can buy it from a pastificio, which translates into pasta shop.
