I highly recommend this Georgian red bean soup. I don’t have the recommended spices/herbs, so I used normal fenugreek, coriander seeds, and a lot of fresh aromatic herbs from my garden. I replaced the pomegranate juice with balsamic and maple syrup but next time I will try with no syrup as per the request of ye ol wifey. Anyways, it’s different and very delicious. I am excited to use walnuts in more soups as a thickener.

Absolutely second this suggestion – it’s a fantastic dish, relatively easy to make, great way to eat beans. Georgian food has some really good stuff with beans, walnuts, spinach, pomegranate and so on, many interesting combinations.
EDIT: I would say it is more stew than soup.
