Got surprised mid-cook on 16lb of pork butt with unforecasted rain. Flame Boss is on it so improvised a very low brow rain shield but it’s doing the trick. 6-ish more hours till showtime!

I’d be afraid that that box is limiting air flow. Can you just rig something over the top. This is why I got a smokeware cap.

I just take a sandwich ziplock baggie and put it over the fan. If you have one with a slider close mechanism you can snug it up.

No need for this. I cook in the pouring rain with mine no problem. Even use it in blizzards in the Montana winter

Only thing I do is cover my Flameboss fan, it won’t hurt anything else..

This is silly and tells me OP is a noob.

If you have the newer top style (circle that slides, not daisy wheel or top hat) you can get an attachment for like $15-20 that acts as a rain guard. It sits in a post hole where a rubber stopper should be and is about 1.5 inches above the vent

Drill a 2” hole in the table top and drop a beach umbrella in there. I did that for years until I built an outdoor kitchen.

I think the term is jerry rigged, jerry being a german slur.

I have the EG and I actually took mine apart (also my smobot) and conformal coated the board. While it will probably be alright I did notice my plastic housing fitment wasn’t quite sealed around the perimeter. I already had the coating, so I figured why not?

Yeah I cook in winter all the time. This looks like a homeless encampment

“Jury rigging” is a different thing than making do with whatever you got around, Jerry.

Results are in and the pork butt is delicious. Side note – thanks for the tips and advice on the egg inclement weather capabilities! The main concern was the flame boss controller but feeling like there are more simple options for that too. https://imgur.com/a/0PJmS79
