Reclaimed white oak and walnut side panels

    This is some quartersawn white oak that came from the top of an old desk that someone had thrown out, a few years back. There was a minor threat of splitting at one of the joins, so I threw in a walnut bowtie to stabilize and pretty it up a little. 

    It took a couple weeks of work in my spare time: getting the attachment points right (including figuring out how to mill some aluminum for the lower tabs), ensuring clearance for some of the protruding internals, etc. I did two mockups in MDF before committing to the white oak. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out.

    That looks amazing! The bow ties make it much more unique. Do you a have photos of how you made the attachment points?
