Damian Lewis grew up in North London and, after a spell in boarding school, returned to the city to study acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

He began his career with the Royal Shakespeare Company before transitioning to television. Damian’s breakout role came in Band of Brothers, which was the most expensive TV show of all-time, in 2001. His portrayal of Nicholas Brody in Homeland earned him both an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe.

His latest film, The Radleys, is adapted from a book by Matt Haig and tells the story of a family of vampires.

Nick mixes an Old-Fashioned for Damian while Angela prepares caponata bruschetta to start, followed by hearty pumpkin risotto, inspired by a butternut squash recipe by Martha Collison. The experts at Waitrose pair this with a Gabriel Meffre Côte du Rhône.

Damian Lewis is the perfect dinner-guest; he arrives hungry and armed with excellent anecdotes. Our trio cover how to cook octopus, what Tom Hanks is like on set and where Damian keeps his awards.

  1. Ange and Grimmy are so down to Earth! People who most would really like to meet.
Homeland was amazing until D.L left.

  2. Watching Nick twirling his hair around his finger like that whilst talking to Damian… me thinks he was a bit smitten… adorbs.

  3. Best episode yet. Anyone thinking they should do an Xmas special with Hannah waddingham😊 and Damian Lewis now?

  4. Angela, you have inspired me to make this risotto to woo my boyfriend who normally cooks for me. Would you please tell us more about the crunchy topping for the risotto? It doesn’t seem to be the same as what is in the online recipe. 🤨

  5. I can't get over the fact he's actually British 😂😂😂❤ I've only ever seen him with an American accent acting

  6. One of the best episodes yet! He's a phenomenal actor & definitely someone id love to have a pint & a chin-wag with ❤

  7. I absolutely love how they have the most fab guests on! It’s never a really bland celebrity that’s just promoting a movie or something. Damien is so likeable and charismatic (and really hot 🥵)

  8. Ange shooing him away with a compliment and immediately belting the risotto into shape, smiling all the while.

  9. I love this podcast so much (Nick, you're adorable) and Damian Lewis is a brilliant actor, but this episode didn't really gel for me. Bummer. Happy to see he is doing well.

  10. Wow what an adorable, funny human being. 😍 I‘m a little smitten to be honest! (Hi love, if you see this, you’re still my #1 of course♥️😂)
