Also, that sandwich looks incredible and I want it

For an Italian-style sub/hoagie/hero (my favorite kind of sandwich):
    Lettuce (ideally shredded iceberg)
    Tomatoes (sliced; lots of ’em)
Onions (I only buy sweet onions and slice them as thin as possible; one local hoagie place chops the onions, and they just fall out)
Hot pickled cherry peppers (jarred; pre-sliced) or cherry pepper relish (jarred)
    Sometimes roasted red peppers (jarred)
Italian vinaigrette dressing or balsamic glaze

If I’m doing turkey, roast beef, or ham, I’ll also use mustard (I have a huge collection), mayo (I only buy Duke’s), and sometimes horseradish or sliced pickled jalapenos as an alternative to the cherry peppers.

Shredded lettuce, tomato sliced  thin, onions super thin, oil and vinegar. But I would definitely eat the one you have laid out before us

Wow, incredible sandwich. I wish we lived near each other so you could teach me your ways Sandwich Whisperer!

  6. What roll are you using? Rolls from Philly are the best (Sarcone’s and Amoroso’s are amazing).

  7. Distance_Efficient

Most sandwiches: shredded lettuce, onions, O&V, pickles, pepperoncini, olives.

That sub looks great! I added everything in this pic. I used a good amount of mayo and this Italian dressing recipe that I recently tried:

    1/3 olive oil
    1/4 red wine vinegar
    2 tbsp water
    2 tsp dijon mustard
    2 tsp honey
    2 tsp italian seasoning
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp pepper

Any and all pickled veggies. Pickles (obvious choice), marinated artichokes, red onions, marinated roasted red peppers, all good choices

    Also garlic aioli

God damn that’s a good looking sandwich!

  12. _BOOMGOTTEM

Mayo, oil and vinegar sometimes a little spicy brown

That sandwich looks so good. And I’m snacking on celery (w/cream cheese) while watching the game. I need to make better choices.

That layers tease me. Can I have a Bite?

  15. Aggravating-Fee-1615

Red wine vinegar and a light oil with dried herbs. Classic.

  16. My favorite is turkey and provolone with spinach, sweet onion, tomato, lots of green pepper for crunch, salt, pepper and olive oil.

  17. Diabocal

For subs I go ketchup and mayo all the way and basic seasonings.

Italians: chop and combine iceberg, banana peppers, red onions. Mix with Mayo, red wine vinegar, pepper juice, oregano, black pepper, tiny bit of salt.

Ham and cheese: Mayo, lettuce, onion, cherry peppers

Roast beef: Mayo, lettuce, cucumbers, tiny bit of brown mustard

The way all the clothes on my body would fly off if anyone made this for me

  20. I feel like a poser here sometimes because I really don’t like much on my sandwiches lol, I just like looking at all the nice looking sandwiches people are eating. they’re usually just ham and American or cheddar, maybe some honey mustard or a light spread of Italian salad dressing. chips are nice to add though

if I want a big sub amount of veggies, I’m just gonna have a salad with my sandwich honestly

  21. TerminalHighGuard

Albertsons sold a wonderful concoction of a sort of tangy oil and savory spices I wish I could remember

  22. UltraBearHD

One leg at a time like everyone else, I tell it.

  27. RepresentativeAd560

    In suits.

    I couldn’t help myself.

  28. chambourcin

Soak your thinly sliced onions in oil, vinegar, oregano, salt & pepper while you prep the rest of the sandwich.

  29. SmokeMoreWorryLess

I don’t like lunch meat so I do mayo, sprouts, spinach, avocado, pickles, cucumber, Pepperoncini, tomato, provolone and cream cheese. If I’m feeling fancy I’ll mix a bit of the pepper brine with some oil and dried herbs and use that as a vinaigrette
