Found a Nespresso Citiz at a second hand store for $1. Sign mentioned it didn’t work and being the person I am, I wanted to see if I could fix it. At the end of the day, $1 and some of my time isn’t a huge loss.

Luckily, it turned on without any issues. It did push water through once, then stopped and began leaking from the bottom. I instantly thought it’d be due to blockage and needed some descaling.

Pushed some descaling solution into the machine (not recommended unless necessary if anyone else tries this) but it did no difference.

Picked the whole machine into parts. Found two large blockages which was easily removed as I could detach the tubes and internal parts.

I also found a crack in the silicone vacuum tube, which I managed to find a replacement for, cost me $5.

Cleaned the whole thing up – dish soap and desinfectants on plastic parts and isopropanol on internal electronics.

So I am now a proud owner of a Nespresso Citiz for $6 and have a nice addition to my coffee lineup.

What were the “blockages”? Scale or coffee or bugs ro what?

Great job! You’re going to need the money you saved to buy the pods. It becomes an obsession! Nice whole coffee setup you’ve got there! 😊

Recently did the same with a vertuo next. Bought a store return (with frother) for $20. Had everything except water cover which I just 3d printed a replacement. Worked flawlessly for 2 years then suddenly was not able to read capsules. I am mechanically inclined, so I took it apart and cleaned everything including the reading mechanism and voila, perfectly functioning again. Mine too had some blockages in the overflow tube which I now know is very simple to service. Only took about a 1 hour total for assembly and disassembly.
