I bought some pork belly to make some burnt ends with. When I opened the package they were pre sliced instead of thick strands like I thought they were. Are these too thin to make good burnt ends with? Each strip is about an inch thick.

Those are perfect for burnt ends, they did half the work for you. Cut them into 1×1 cubes and throw them in the smoke.
This is the most common way we get pork belly in Ireland, i use them for burnt ends all the time, they turn out great
