My first Tavel

My first Tavel Rosè. Love the color-Blood red.

On the nose I get the usual strawberries and cream from many Rosè wines.

The palette is where things get interesting. This wine is more full bodied than I thought it would be.  Very spicy and chewy mixed in with strawberries and other fruit flavors (rhubarb) I feel like I can have meat with this wine.

The acid is great and keeps the wine balanced preventing one note from dominating the other. The finish is spicy and long. Like I can feel the spice notes in my mouth for a long time.

This is a great Rosè that can stand up meat and other hearty dishes.  Not a porch pounder but like most Rosè it is hard to put down.

This was also my first Tavel that I tried a couple months ago, but I think it was the 2023. I found that vintage to be too round and lacking acidity, though I could see how these wines could really hit with everything in balance. I certainly won’t write off the producer. Thanks for the notes!

  3. If you really want GREAT savory rosé, find yourself some Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo. The value is insane – peak pink for me

Tavel is always excellent. Love that producer too

Great choice! I’ve also had that wine. Others to find are Guigal and Chateau D’Aqueria Tavel Rose. Not very expensive, really.
