Duoro Valley
Just wanted to share a few pics of the Port Capital of the World: Duoro. This place really needs to be seen to believed. The slopes that hold the port grape are steep and rock solid. Slate and Shist rock battle for the grape vines of Pedro Xemenez and many other varietals. The people of the Duoro are lovely, hard working, life long devotees of their task, climbing these rocky slopes with wine baskets to harvest these grapes.
After touring most of the wineries, my favorites are Sandemans and Dow, but other smaller, less well-known producers are also fantastic.
I cook with 10 year tawny (pork with red wine vinegar, safe and port are my go-to) and drink 20 and 30 year tawny.
If you love Port, make it a point to visit this beautiful region. It's well worth the long drive, side of the road, precipice gazing at the vertical slopes and amazing cellars of these vineyards. Cheers!

Even better, head down the river with a boat, train or car and stop by the vineyards on the way.
those steep vineyards look like such a labor of love
