I’m reassembling a no-name pasta maker. The only issue I’m having is with the adjustment knob.

[Pic2](https://imgur.com/RSopwCT), the hole where the dial inserts into the shaft seems rounded, and now spins freely – I don’t know if it was supposed to only fit in a specific orientation and maybe I ruined it. Otherwise, the nut and spring inside the knob should be screwed on.
When all assembled, the adjustment knob doesn’t seem to do anything, and when I crank the rollers with the handle, the rollers just continually move together and apart, like cycling through all the settings.
Otherwise, I don’t exactly understand how the knob actually works to set the pasta thickness. Should I just look to buy a replacement knob? Does anyone have a link to a 9-setting knob that is easier to install than this knob ([Pic3, I had to drill a hole to get access to the nut and spring inside](https://imgur.com/sjXkG1n))? Again, don’t know the brand, so not sure exactly where to look for replacement parts. Or will it work fine if I replaced it a knob with a different-number of settings?
e – Still don’t know how it exactly works, but I’m pretty sure I rounded the hole in the knob and ruined it. I’ve ordered a replacement 6-setting knob in the meanwhile.

I have the italchef pasta roller, similar to this and the piece in pic 2 on mine is not circle in the middle, the middle is snug around the rectangle bolt to adjust the roller thickness, so imo youll need to order that peice new or compare a new pasta roller depending on parts price
