Hello fellow wine lovers. My wife’s birthday is today and I’m torn between which of these two wines I should serve with our meal. I’ll be cooking a traditional pasta bolognese. Any guidance on which would be a better pairing is much appreciated!

    Ehhhhh both will be fine.
I would lean barb even though I’m a huge fan of Torres Acosta.

I think the barbaresco will stand up to the richness better than the etna rosso will. Also 2019 was a good year for Piemonte, might as well see what they look like.

  2. Bolognese with Sangiovese, but I guess Barbaresco will do.

The Arenaria is much more delicate than that.

Torres Acosta is the more interesting wine here. Barbaresco needs more age, too.

For Bolognese I would go with the Barbaresco for sure, since its on the younger side I would opt for to decant it a few hours before dinner which shouldn’t be too hard if you’re making a traditional bolognese.

I love Nerello Mascalese, and I find it is always a delight with some Rigatoni ala Norma!

Food generally pairs well with beverages.

You’re thinking about it too much.
