This is a Kitchenaid artisan mixer with pasta attachment available on fb marketplace for $250.
I want to use it for making Indian rotis/chapatis.
Two questions:
1. Is the price for both of them good?
2. Should I buy it on Fb or in store?
I am worried about parts breaking and not having warranty, complete noob to kitchenaid.

    For 250 it’s a steal.
For parts, mixers are very durable and require not much maintenance.

Not without turning it on and listening to the motor. These fuckers are beautiful and very useful but easy to burn out. Then again, a lot of people went nuts on baking during COVID and are now realizing they don’t actually have time / give a shit.

Why are they selling? And what l happened to the whipping attachment? Did they drive over it with a car? And definitely turn it on and listen. On all speeds. I sold my 11-year old kitchenaid because the motor was getting weak, couldn’t get up to high speeds anymore. Sold it for $50 though. Honestly, with black Friday coming up, personally I’d look for a better deal, as in same money for brand new.

If the attachment drive is working, yes.

  5. Gvanaco

Yes, Only if you can test.
Listen to the engine singing. It should not creak or break.

    No test, = No GO

250 is a bit to high on my opinion.

The padle and dough hook enamel looks brand new, but the whisk is definitely damaged. You might want to ask why, and try to run the mixer and listen for any fancy sounds. Can’t tell about the pasta attachments, I don’t have those. I don’t think you need those attachments for chapati/rotis but that’s your call !

Brand new 6 quart lift bowl is $300 at Costco right now.

the mixers come in different ways motors so make sure it’s not a 150-200. I got my 450 watt for like $200 but no attachments. the 600 watt are pro models. Extensive daily usage will eat up a cheaper model.

The pasta extensions cost over $100 when I received mine, so I would say yes. Go for it.

But only if you make a lot of pasta, like me. Or use the mixer a lot, not like me.

The pasta attachment alone is $200 it’s a good deal, if it’s in working condition

  11. SearchAlarmed7644

If all included then yes if it works.

Seems expensive to me. I sold my pro one for a lot less, but I did live in a smaller town.

Why are they selling it? It’s almost ‘too good’ of a deal, if that makes sense.

But if it works and all the parts are there?? It’s a good deal.

Check the website though, you may be able to find a sale with a machine you will have a warranty with, and may not need those attachments.

I would test it to see if it’s working really listen to the motor, then I would try to talk them down to at least 200 because I like to dicker a bit with craigslist and marketplace stuff the most important thing is to try it out before you buy it I think 250 is a little steep

New ones are trash tbh, you’re better off buying an older 90s model. It’ll outlast your grandkids.
    These new ones are crap.

If everything is in proper working condition and the seller has good and consistent ratings, then I would say yes, the mixer new is worth that but the pasta attachment set pictured here is definitely not cheap from what I remember

I saw the pasta roller attachment in Target today for 149

  18. oddible

If the motor isn’t shot yes, that’s a great deal.

  19. Plenty-Property3320

Is that a 5qt? It looks smaller.

  20. raybrignsx

I’m not sure if it’s a good deal but those pasta attachments work extremely well.

  21. papersauce-has-bones

Mixer alone is more than 250. The pasta things are over 100

  22. Anti_colonialist

Right now, Costco has the pro version 6 quart lift bowl for 299. The pro versions use all metal parts, unlike the artisan and the tilt head.

I’d be careful on the newer models.  KitchenAid mixers use to be tanks, but now in their new models the motors will burn out with the heavier use that some bread recipes call for.  In all it comes down to how you’re going to use it, and if you trust that the previous owner didn’t put it through it’s paces.

I got mine with three cheaper accessories for $250. the lady had got it as a wedding present and never used it. literally the only thing missing was half of the flour guard, and all three attachments were new unopened in box.

the pastas attachment itself is $100 and the KitchenAid is roughly $300 on sale brand new last time I checked. so you’re getting a really good deal.

most things on the kitchen aid you can fix yourself. as long as you’re not throwing it off counters or trying to mix a bowl full to the brim of bread dough, they can handle stuff well.

  25. CymVanCat

Just make sure it works. If yes great deal!

  26. Anxious_Plum_5818

That’s incredible value. I have all those things too, costed me 540 USD.

  27. apfleisc

Definitely not but could you send me the link?
