On-trend industrial styling, intimate lighting and a laid-back feel are the hallmarks of this striking modern villa conversion in the residential suburb of Jumeirah – along with the huge open kitchen and grill which gives the restaurant its name. The impressive variety of global ingredients are of excellent quality, with vegetables, seafood and meats grilled to perfection over oak, hickory or hay, each of which impart their own distinctive flavour. The talented kitchen has the experience to know when and how to keep things simple, enhancing the skilfully cooked dishes subtly with well-judged seasoning. Delicious homemade kombuchas partner the dishes, and the relaxed yet professional service adds to the restaurant’s appeal.

From starters to desserts, it’s all on fire
No smoke without… Fire is the theme of this concept, where diners are likely to find dishes infused with the scents of hickory or pine. Ingredients are of the highest quality, with equal footing given to meat, seafood and vegetables on the menu. Dishes everyone should really try are the wagyu burger (smothered in gouda cheese and sriracha) and the burnt cheesecake made with goat cheese.
Who’s on the pass? The UAE knows who Akmal Anuar is – after all, he’s the chef who launched 3 Fils and then Goldfish, a popular sushi and yakitori joint. This Singaporean chef has let his culinary prowess reign with a focus on the simplicity of ingredients, while letting fire merely enhance their flavours rather than mask them.

All about the location: Housed in a villa with a large courtyard in Dubai’s Jumeirah district, 11 Woodfire welcomes you to its home. Well, if a home could mimic its minimalist industrial chic style with wood and exposed ceilings, along with a massive open kitchen.
Celebs in attendance: Dubai is no stranger to celeb spotting, but 11 Woodfire has had its share of the stars wanting to taste its fare. From members of the UAE’s royal family to tennis champ Roger Federer, the restaurant has remained a firm favourite among the elite.
Zero-proof power: The restaurant is unlicensed, but the team has focused on its zero-proof menu with great aplomb. Highlights include the tea trolley – which enjoys the dual purpose of serving the wow factor as well as an extensive range of teas – as well as the botanical-inspired drinks, all of which perfectly complement the food.
