Guys this is my first time EVER cooking a steak, it’s sirloin (it was on sale at Aldi this week and I took a risk buying it)
My bf loves steak so I surprised him after work this week.

I don’t have a picture of just the meat cooked SORRRYYY!

Looks great, nice crust, medium cook, looks well seasoned, nice crisp on the taters, lil char on the broccoli, and can never go wrong with that Mac 🙌🏻 I’d eat it, and go back for 2nds

    It’s an excellent looking steak.
My preference would be slightly more rare but that’s me.
I would never complain about steak that looks like that. Good job

Would smash.  I’d try to have more color on the outside and perhaps a bit less done on the inside.  8/10 still want to eat

Looks great! But our opinions don’t mean much. If you enjoyed it then props to you!

Aldi actually has REALLY good rib eyes and strips in the vac seal packs… often can get a 10-14oz for $12.00 or less. It’s my go-to non restaurant steak..

We can’t all afford butchered… so it’s great

  6. How did it taste? Don’t look to others for approval, your taste buds are the only ones that matter!

Delicious looking plate! Take a picture prior to slicing it also for better idea of how the crust came out. I would highly enjoy this plate

Cut – 5, Sear – 7, probably should be finished it with some butter on top

More worried about that dry Mac and cheese

6.5/10. Sear could be a bit better. Next time, use kosher salt and, if you have time, leave it in the fridge for a day to allow the salt to penetrate the steak. Using flakey salt like you did here will lift the steak off the pan, leading to an uneven sear. Save the flakey salt for finishing dishes and grab a box of Diamond crystal or Morton’s kosher salt for seasoning. Good luck!
