So…this says pinot noir on the bottle, but this does not taste like pinot noir. This tastes over-extracted and is syrupy in body/mouthfeel. Dark purple in color, much darker than a pinot noir should be. Needless to say, I can immediately tell this is heavily manipulated like Prisoner and Caymus.

Heavy notes of sweet vanilla, and oak that’s of an unnatural character. The fruit is a non-distinct mix of mostly dark and some red. I can make out lots of blackberry, and some cherry and smoke.

This is neither elegant or structured. I would honestly look elsewhere for a quality pinot. It doesn’t even taste that good generally.

This ain’t it.

The dairyman is the best of the bunch between this, las alturas and dairyman but nonetheless there are better options for the price

Little known fact. The vineyard at the corner of Clark and telephone (1 mile from my house), is actually Solomon Hills. The actual vineyard was planted as the Mission Vineyard and is almost half a mile away from the intersection. The owners of Solomon Hills, Miller Family Wines, sells a lot of fruit to the Wagners, and never ceased and desisted them.

  3. Only thing going for it is the bottle.

I’m sure it’ll make a very nice mulled wine because by gawd is it sweet.

As bad as Caymus, but only 2/3 the price!

I had a bottle of this when I was brand new to wine and enjoyed it… had one about two years ago and I could not believe how much I hated it.

    That’s disappointing. I have a 2017 on deck in my wine fridge…

Got one of these for half price at a Walmart who was closing out their higher end wine. Not even worth it at thst price, just really, really strange for a pinot…

When I lived in Santa Maria, I used to drive up Clark and past Telephone allllll the time… on the way to better wineries

Agree 10000% the pretty wax dip is a great selling point. But I absolutely hated it. Rose too

10/10 everyone knows the rules Belle Glos is an absolute joke

    Respectfully. All these bs comments.
Who has actually tasted this wine??
I have. Most drinkable label in the lineup. Not saying I would ever invest a dollar or a minute in anything Wagner related. But call it what it is. This might be the only ageworthy label for Belle Gloss

I bought a bunch of bottles for $23 each during a wine auction because I knew it would be impressive when invited to peoples houses for dinner. Suckers.

We got married in 2006 when I was active duty Air Force and before I really got into wine, our wedding wines were this Pinot and the Prisoner. Embarrassing to admit.

I made up for it when I retired from the military, went to wine school and opened my own winery 12 years later. Now I live just 12 miles south of that Clark & Telephone vineyard.

At least it’s better than Meomi! I would drink this at a wedding, I wouldn’t drink Meomi or Prisoner.

I like to taste wines blind and I was expecting a decent pinot for the cost.

And just like this post stated, belle glos tastes nothing like pinot. It had be question whether i forgot how what pinot tasted like or if I has suffered a stroke.
