Picked up this 1.3 lb NY Strip from Whole Foods yesterday.
It’s the most marbled NY Strip I’ve purchased. It was $27

$27 for 1.3lbs? Is that normal?

Im of the belief that this looks unappetizing. Far too much fat, we sure that’s NY Strip? My gut says mislabeled.

You bought $27 of gristle
Usual-Possession-823
Stew meat
Exotic_Spray205
Not A5 and not a true NY either. Looks like it came off the very end of the loin which is usually not sold for steak for obvious reasons.

There’s a difference between lots of marbling and too much fat. This is the latter. Overpaid for tallow.
rickoftheuniverse
That’s dog food

This makes me sad.
That’s an end cut. Big seam of gristle running through the center. And those are just big globs of fat that won’t render. Honestly never seen a steak this bad at WF.

I’m sorry friend, I hope it tastes better than it looks

We used to call those “Vegas cuts”. The low quality cuts sold extremely cheap on Vegas buffets.

I thought it was sitting on a salt block for a second or something till I realized it was the greased up paper.

No bueno

Bro I’d be pissed.
ZachOf_AllTrades
And you willingly paid this sum? Or was there some sort of blackmail involved?
BaEdDa
Might was well just buy a ribeye. Thats not a good NY strip.

Ew

Yeah, that’s gonna be a no for me dog. Marbling is fat within the sections of muscle fibers, not huge chunks of fat running thru it.
gewehr_und_messer
Terrible looking steak.
An0ther_Florida_man
Those thick white bands aren’t marbling. They are pieces of connective tissue that will not render out when cooking
Professional_Key9733
27$ of fat
OrionsGhost79
You’d be better off buying your meat in a mall parking lot.
Crowarior
Looks like 80-20 to me.
cuhzaam
This is the end piece and should not have been sold as ny striploin.

Oh no hahaha
