First time ever trying..got a brand new stainless steel pan, meat thermometer and avocado oil. Put it in the oven for a reverse sear..as I was going for rare I guess next time I’ll have to take it out earlier.
Then I messed up the searing part as the very instant I added oil to the pan it started smoking and burn – while it was searing 2 minutes on each side (definitely too long) on a different pan I was busy running around getting batteries out of the fire alarms..
My house smells burnt and the steak was ok.
10/10 experience will try again next time

Dude that is the nastiest beef I have ever seen. You say mistakes were made, but I hope lessons were learned. Amateurs…
No bro / lady – If I paid for a $20 steak at a restaurant and was served this, I would be very satisfied. Looks amazing and can’t wait to see your next post!

lol, i see it is medium. i made the mistake of rubbing my steak with coconut oil and then applied the season then i coated my iron skillet with avocado oil.. the temperature was too high and created a lot of smoke. besides all of this i managed to save it and made a very rare steak with a good crust. live and learn my friend.

Medium steak is still better than no steak, imo.

Ah the avocado oil😂😂😂😂😂 don’t trust the avocado it will lead you astray everytime
Looks like chicken 😂
Overcooked for my tastes but it doesn’t look bad at all
I thought this was undercooked pork…
At least you still have edible meat. Instead of either still mooing meat or shoe leather.
Looks amazing
Best course of action is to dispose of the evidence and try again.
Where?
Id still rip that apart
Mistakes were made or “mi steak was ate”. Glass half full paradox here
Yeah they were

The plates is your first mistakes…
I see no issues, other than not slicing on the bias
This steak fvcks
Don’t beat yourself up. It still looks good even though it is a little more cooked than I like it.
