Any advice for upgrades and dialing in the grinder are appreciated. Please share personal preferences as well!
Thanks!

Welcome to the hobby! If you want to really practice your late art, I’d recommend a nice cup if you don’t have one (like the Loveramics Egg).
Also don’t worry too much about upgrades straight out the box. (It’s more hype than reward in most cases) Learn how to make it taste best with what you got, and pick upgrades that will complement your workflow and tastes as you develop.
Good luck!

Grab a bottomless portafilter or, if you prefer spouted, at least one that is heavier. Same goes for the tamper, get something more enjoyable to use. Beyond that you’re Gucci.

I got the same exact setup Bambino and Baratza ESP last year. Next list of essentials in no particular order: 1) espresso scale 2) bottomless portafilter, 3) tamper, 4) funnel.
Wait for black friday, lots of great deals on amazon. I am big fan of Ikape products. budget friendly and great reviews.

I’ve got the same grinder (and scale and a Bambino!) and have it loosely set to where you are for medium roast, so you’re in the right ball park. Buy fresh beans and Keep tasting and see how you get on.

Hey! This is the setup I’ve had the past year!

Exactly the same set up crew checking in!
You’ll be making better coffee than most cafes in no time!

I have the same setup!! If you single dose your beans into the Baratza I recommend a single dose hopper to make sure all of your ground beans make it out.
Admittedly, I spent far too long just banging the top of the Baratza like a bongo 🙂

I highly recommend a bellows for the encore esp. It’s been great for mine.
For the bambino, I got a Normcore spring loaded (and self leveling) tamper. Eventually I got a stainless steel portafilter for better heat retention, but you don’t need to do that off the bat to be honest.

Hey that’s my same setup! I’ve upgraded my tamper to a normcore self-leveling and spring loaded one, changed out the portafilter for a bottomless one, and got a WDT and dosing funnel. I love it and don’t see myself changing it for a long time
