I’ve seen beer with two labels while working the packing line at a brewery. There was probably a jam with the bottles. Pretty neat find!

As a winemaker with a large sparkling program; yes, many, but they usually don’t make it past the end of the labelling line!
What likely happened here is the capsule dispenser put out two capsules due to misalignment or a variety of other reasons, and after the capsule was sealed and bottle was labelled it wasn’t caught at the end of the line by QC.

The rumor is, Pol Roger used to double, or even triple wrap all of their bottles that were sent to Winston Churchill in order to make it harder for him to open more bottles amidst his late night stupors.
You just got one of the special deliveries.

I had a bottle about a month ago that 5 or 6 layers of foil. It was bizarre. Wasn’t champagne, just a random red. I forget what it was exactly

Not personally, but I’ve seen many bottling lines in action. It’s easy for two foils to get stuck together – they come in very long tubes that are placed on the bottling line.
Since the first foil got buried under the second label *and immediately* covered with the neck label, it would be difficult or impossible to catch when packing the case of wine at the end of the bottling line.

Gotta be good luck

Better double bag it, don’t know where they’re putting that thing…

Gotta double wrap it so the cork doesn’t pop too early.

There was so much pressure they were worried about premature disgorgement

It only happened to me once, with an italian sparkling red.
