First time grilling wings and I was paranoid they’d be undercooked.

I always use a thermometer for chicken. It’s so hard to tell for me. Those look delicious though and right up my alley. How do they taste?!?!

  2. Residual_Variance

Look good to me. I’d definitely eat them.

I mean, did they taste good? That’s the answer you need

The only person who can answer that question is you. Was it too much char for you? If not, then you’re fine. It it was too much char for you, then cook your wings indirect for a longer period of time and a shorten the time.of direct heat.

  5. If those taste as good as they look, they’re perfect!

well within acceptable parameters & I would eat those 8747 times

If they taste good then you got the right amount of char, if they didn’t then you didn’t. They look good to me though.

    Perfect

I did them in my oven like this before my grill. Much slower process but they were insane

If you cooked them a little longer it’ll be too charred. You did good.

The real question is, how did it taste?

Man I’ll give you my secret. I use charcoal. I have the expert grill that allows you to lower and raise the charcoal. Well worth the investment. I would suggest whole wings. I tend to cut off the tip path of the wing. Rinse with water and pat dry. Leave them a little wet to help seasoning stick. I use the kinder the blend seasoning. It’s fantastic. Keep them flipped. After a couple flips you will see where your hot spots are and rotate wing as needed to slow down cooking or speed up cooking as needed. Easiest way to keep from burning them. This recipe is asked for every year for my nephews bday and thanks giving and Christmas. I can’t say no to grilling man.

I think that’s perfect, my wife would think it’s too much, my brother wouldn’t eat them.

Cook food the way you want to eat it. There is not “correct” when it comes to preference. (To a certain extent, I’ll say. Raw wing or burn to charcoal are wrong regardless of preference.)

Yeah they’re delicious, I ate the whole plate

I think we need different words for char that is burnt chicken, which is good in small doses, versus charring of the rub. I find charring of the rub to be enjoyable in much larger doses.

I usually cook my wings using the same method each time. If I use a rub that has spices like garlic in it, the same cooking method is going to turn that stuff black like this. My mouth is watering looking at your wings, but to each his or her own.

Looks good. Look like lots of char but not burnt (black)

They look good in my eyes and the most important thing is if you enjoyed eating it.
